Books

Living books — works in progress. These three books are actively being written and refined. New content and revisions are generally uploaded about once a month, so chapters, examples, and explanations may evolve as each book develops.

Finance & financial markets

Markets, Models, and Money, A Practical(ly) Introduction

A concise, practical tour of modern investing—from Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), CAPM, and the Efficient Market Hypothesis to factor models, option valuation, the Greeks, and common option spreads. It connects the intuition, essential mathematics, and real-world uses of each idea while exploring the assumptions and limitations of financial models.

Engineering & innovation

Engineering Design, An Brief Overview

An accessible overview of the engineering design process: defining problems and requirements, generating and evaluating concepts, using analysis and modeling, building prototypes, testing designs, and refining solutions. It also highlights teamwork, professional ethics, documentation, and clear technical communication.

Fluid mechanics & numerical methods

Fem Fluids & Fun

An exploration of incompressible fluid mechanics through weighted residual methods, functional analysis, and finite element methods. Topics connect the governing Navier–Stokes and continuity equations to weak formulations, function spaces, boundary conditions, discretization, and the numerical solution of fluid-flow problems.
